stop blogging already!

Seriously folks! I "innocently" check my facebook while winding down for the evening and before I know it... WHAMO!!! it's 2am and what have I gotten done? NOTHING! LOL! Trouble is, there's too many fabulous photographers in my friends. You all post links to your blog or newly updated websites and that's all it takes to suck me in. (I'm one of those "OOOH SHINY!" people) I may just have to start deleting some of you amazing people whose photographs keep me coming back for more.... or just do the "set a timer" trick someone told me about.  Any creative or funny suggestions???

you look like you could use some help

so said my little girl to her daddy as he was trying to clean out the garage. one hard hat and a few tools later, she was ready to dive in! I might say this more than a few times, but Man I love her!!

LOL! now that i've typed in that title i can think of so many other photos that would go with it so much bettter. But i'm not the type to go back and try to figure out a more clever title to go with what i'm going to blog about tonight. or maybe i am... i'll let you know if i do.

Anyways so this is my beautiful lil sister who is about to blow out my nephew Cayden. CAN'T WAIT TO MEET HIM!!! And i'm pretty sure he can't wait to meet his auntie Val (who by the way is the coolest!) He always makes sure to give me some super kicks when i let him know i'm there!

crooked photography ?

so we get different reactions to our name, and questions -which is totally fine. i like a good conversation starter. 

how did we (val & kellie) decide to go with crooked photography as our name? cause we're all about ripping people off! (LOL! TOTALLY KIDDING!) 

okay so i definately didnt want to use my name. and then things like precious, reflections, treasured, memories etc all great words to describe things in life a photographer catches... but we're just not the cutesie name type of people. we wanted our name to fit us. 

crooked though? let me try to explain.  i am definately a very relational person.  i love people.  love getting to know them and the things that make them different. i also LOVE JESUS! and i love the way that He looks at us. it's SO very different than our harsh society that seems to thrive on picking everyone apart. it makes me so sad. even the most "beautiful" celebrities fall short of the standard and get ripped apart for something. i can't tell you how amazing it is to be able to photograph people (especially women) who feel insecure and see the reaction when we show them images of themselves! 

how do you get crooked from that?   there's the way society looks at people, but instead i prefer to tilt my head, change the angle, and catch a different view.

wow. so i've been meaning to start blogging regularly, ever since November when i got to attend a magical thing called Love Affair Workshop! (photography workshop for women)  Best thing ever!!! 4 amazing women put it on - millie holloman, lauren clark, davina fear, & kelly moore! you have to check out their work!!! (and if you ever get the opportunity - GO TO THEIR WORKSHOP! ) I still am in utter amazement at all that i learned in such a short time! not to mention all of the fabulous ladies i met! i'm excited to take all that i learned and use it to develop my photography skills & grow my business. (blogging being the next step they encouraged me to take)
